Assistant Professor, University of Aberdeen
I am a Lecturer/Assistant professor at the Universtiy of Aberdeen. My research interests lie at the intersection of Natural Language Processing, Psycholingusitcs and Cognitive Science. My favourite projects involve interdisciplinary challenges, using theories of human interaction or learning to address the challenge of applying language technologies to the fields of dialogoue modelling, education and human-centred interaction.

Postgraduate Intern
Marya did her MSc AI at the University of Aberdeen, thesis supervised by Arabella. She then went on to extend some of the work done in his thesis and collaborate with us on Caregiver modelling and feedback in the context of early questions. She is currently doing an internship at the lab, and intends to pursue postgraduate research.
KTP Associate,
Joe did his MSc AI at the University of Aberdeen, thesis supervised by Arabella. He then went on to extend some of the work done in his thesis and collaborate with us on Efficiency and Effectiveness in Task-Oriented Dialogue: On Construction Repetition, Information Rate, and Task Success. He is now a KTP associate, where he translates NLP research into an industry applicable setting, congratulations Joe!
Research Assistant
Aron did his BSc Honours in Computing Science at the Universtiy of Aberdeen, with his thesis supervised by Arabella. He then went on to extend some of the work done in his thesis and collaborate with us on Attribution and Alignment: Effects of Local Context Repetition on Utterance Production and Comprehension in Dialogue. He then joined the lab as a research assistant. He is now working as an LLM engineer in Cambridge.
If you're a Computing Science Undergraduate, or a Masters student in the MSc AI program at the University of Aberdeen and find the project topics here interesting, please feel free to get in touch, either about thesis Supervision or if you'd like to gain research experience.
